Recent Fused Glass Prototypes

March 31st, 2009

Eric produced some fine examples of fused / slumped cigar ashtrays for our project.  We have presented them to our first potential cigar brand and their response was overwhelmingly positive.  Eric used some proprietary techniques in the production of these designs.  We are awaiting word from this potential customer on whether they will commit to the project before we present the designs to our next cigar brand.Smokin' Design  These images show first round prototypes and when we move to a second round expect to see even tighter, more sophisicated execution.

New Fused Glass Project

January 30th, 2009

I have recently started working on a project / new business with a friend and fellow glass artist / designer named Eric.  We have worked together in the past on a line of fused / slumped glass with a focus on transparency / overlap and graceful curves.  That project was extremely successful artistically and I consider it a commercial success as well.

Our new project will take things further and will utilize new materials and techniques to create a hopefully beautiful and unexpected collection of objects that will push the design and technology envelope.

I recently did research at Material Conexxion in NYC and was supported by Beatrice who is amazingly on the pulse of material  breakthroughs, she is a materials specialist there.  This is the second commercial project that I have sourced from research done at MC NYC.

Handmade Venetian Stemware

January 30th, 2009

venetian-stemware-i-designedI designed several collections of handmade stemware for Seguso Viro, a renowned Venetian glass company.  This was a dream project for me.  I got to work hand in hand with Master Italian Glassblowers and designers on the island of Murano.  The Seguso family was wonderful to work with.  I hope to be able to work together again in the future.
